Portable Fire Pits
TIPS FOR STARTING A GREAT FIRE
Enhance your backyard with a cozy fire in your PitPerfect fire pit. Here’s a quick guide:
- Choose dry hardwood like oak or maple as firewood. Avoid wet or softwood like pine, as they produce more smoke.
- Collect tinder (dry leaves or newspaper), kindling (small sticks), and fuel (logs) for the fire.
- Create a teepee shape with your materials, starting with tinder, adding kindling, and arranging the fuel around the edge. Ensure airflow.
- Light the fire at the center using a long lighter or matches. Let it spread naturally and adjust carefully if needed.
- Monitor the fire, adding fuel but keeping it manageable. Never leave it unattended. Extinguish it by spreading embers and dampening them with water, or use a fire extinguisher or sand.
Follow these steps and your fire pit’s safety instructions for a pleasant and safe experience.

FIRE SAFETY FOR YOUR PitPerfect
- Choose a Safe Location: Place your fire pit on a non-flammable surface, away from buildings, trees, and overhanging branches. Ensure a clear area of at least 10 feet around the pit.
- Prepare for Emergencies: Keep a bucket of water, sand, or a fire extinguisher nearby. Familiarize yourself with how to use these in case of unexpected flare-ups.
- Supervise at All Times: Never leave your fire unattended. Ensure an adult is always present to monitor the fire and keep children and pets at a safe distance.
- Follow Local Guidelines: Adhere to local fire regulations regarding open flames. Some areas may have specific rules or require permits.
- Extinguish Properly: When you’re done, extinguish the fire completely. Douse it with water, stir the ashes, and apply more water. Check that the fire is out and the area is cool before leaving.
- Clean Regularly: Remove ash and debris from the fire pit after each use. This prevents accumulation and reduces the risk of unexpected flare-ups.
- Be Weather-Wise: Avoid using the fire pit in windy conditions, which can spread flames and embers. Check weather forecasts for wind advisories.
